So it’s been a couple weeks since I started this whole thing so I figure I should give y’all an update.

So week 1 was great! I was eating all my healthy meals that I had prepped that weekend, resisted all the temptations of food at work and drive-through’s. For dinner I was even cooking every meal at home and eating almost all veggies, it was great! That was until Valentine’s Day. I had Panda Express and brownies for dinner and then through out the day people brought in everything from chocolate covered strawberries to cookies and candy. Then Anson and I made pizzas for dinner and then had more brownie and ice cream and went to Sonic for drinks.

Once Valentine’s Day was over I thought I was in the clear for food and temptation, I was wrong. Because, as we all know then there is clearance candy and sweets. Between work and home I just couldn’t stop eating bad stuff for a couple days. Brownies, candy, cake, pizza, Girl Scout Cookies, the list goes on. And today we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner because it is Anson’s dad’s 60th birthday today. And instead of being smart and ordering something not terrible, I got a ribeye, mashed potatoes and a salad with blue cheese. And of course I had a roll or two and they ordered a sampler platter of appetizers. I easily ate 1,500 calories just in that one meal.

In good news though, when I did eat something not super healthy I could feel a difference in my energy and generally in my body because I was already so used to eating healthy. Also positive note, I walked almost 2 miles a day with coworkers. We have a trail between 2 buildings and if you walk it one way and trace back the same way, it’s almost a mile and I would do that 2 times a day. It is still hard to do at times, especially the hill at the end but it does make me feel better for the rest of my work day to be able to step away for a little bit. I also have been using my new spin bike at home in the evenings instead of sitting on the couch. It’s not a lot of exercise but it is better than nothing.

I did change some things up this last week from the week before that I think I am going to stick to. The first week, I was chopping berries and separating yogurt into tubberwear containers and having a bagel each morning on my way to work. To make it easier on myself, I am now doing a peanut butter and honey sandwich on my drive to work and then an apple and an orange at work in the morning. Not only to I stay full longer, it doesn’t make as many tubberwear containers that Anson has to clean every other day, and the only prep work is the sandwich in the morning, that takes maybe 5 minutes.

All in all, it was a good 2 weeks with some bad days. Which I have had to tell myself all the time that this is what diets are, you can’t live off of salmon and veggies, you need balance. And sometimes that balance is a bad day of eating or not exercising one day. As long as you don’t give up after that day and you keep up the progress you have been making then don’t beat yourself up about it.
